Wataru Kamijo (/wəˈtɑːruː kəˈmiːdʒoʊ/ wə-TAR-oo kə-MEE-joh; born 17 April 2006) is a Japanese professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for A-League Men club Sydney FC.
Early life
Kamijo was born on 17 April 2006 in Nagoya, Japan, to a Korean mother and a Japanese father. Growing up, he attended elementary school in South Korea for one year.
Club career
Sydney FC
Kamijo was promoted to Sydney FC's first team in the 2023–24 A-League Men season. He made his debut for the club in a 4–1 win over Philippine side Kaya F.C.–Iloilo in Manila in the group stage of the AFC Champions League Two on 3 October 2024.
